ENGLAND v WEST INDIES
West Indies: 300 (CH Gayle 79, DS Smith 61, MN Samuels 51, MP Vaughan 3 /39)
England: 301 for 9 ( MP Vaughan 79, KP Pietersen 100)
England won by One wicket.
The West Indies produced a challenging total, but in a thrilling climax after Vaughan's return to form, and Pietersen's pugnacious century, Nixon's determination guided England to victory off the penultimate ball with the last pair together. Earlier Gayle and Smith had entertainingly set the stage for the maestro Brian Lara's final international innings. He was run out early, to end what was overall a disappointing tournament for his team and himself personally. However, this was a great match. The West Indies will be back and, who knows, so might be Brian Lara.
Man of the Match: KP Pietersen
