Australia won again in purposeful style after England's Ian Bell and the imperturbable Kevin Pietersen had shared a 140 run partnership which suggested that a surprise might be in store. But the remaining nine English batsmen collectively could muster only 48 in the face of the Australian pace attack and the busy Hogg, and the relatively modest challenge was convincingly met by the Australian top order led by the consistent Ponting and Clarke.
