South Africa produced one of the highest scores of the tournament, Gibbs and Boucher together striking a blistering 86 in 37 balls in the final stages, following an earlier partnership of 170 between man of the match de Villiers and Kallis. The early dismissal of free scorers Gayle and Lara condemned the West Indies to the loss, but the South Africans nevertheless allowed them to achieve an imposing total.
